The Oregonian: Dancers at Northwest Portland Strip Club Vote to Form City’s First Strippers Union, Second in U.S.

Strippers at Northwest Portland’s Magic Tavern have voted to form a union, a first for Portland and only the second active strippers union in the U.S.

A total of 16 dancers unanimously voted to unionize with the Actors’ Equity Association, an established union that typically represents stage actors and performers. The election, overseen by the National Labor Relations Board, wrapped up last week.

The vote makes the Magic Tavern the second unionized strip club in the U.S., after the Star Garden in Hollywood, California, unionized this May.
