Actors' Equity Association Presents

“A Celebration of Women’s History Month”

A One-Night Only Performance Event
Monday, March 24, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.
(New York City)

Join AEA’s Equal Employment Opportunity Committee as we mark Women’s History Month with an evening of performances centered on the lives of female activists including:

  • Eleanor Roosevelt - Longest-serving First Lady of the United States (March 1933 to April 1945), known for her human rights achievements.
  • Shirley Chisholm - First African-American Congresswoman (elected in 1968; served 14 years), social activist and the first woman to run for Democratic presidential nomination (1972).
  • Mary McLeod Bethune - American educator and civil rights leader who served as an advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt (known as "The First Lady of The Struggle”).
  • Empress Wu Zetianof China – Only female in Chinese history to rule as emperor for almost half a century (from 690 to 705 CE).
  • Ulrike Meinhof – Infamous, radical left-wing militant who started out as a journalist and became one of the founders of the Red Army Faction (1970).

The evening will be performed by Actors' Equity Association members Richarda Abrams, Sharon Hope, Dorothy Leeds and Shigeko Sara Suga.
The event is directed by Passion (member, Stage Directors & Choreographers Society). Rosita Timm is the stage manager.

When:
Monday, March 24
7-9 p.m.

Location:
Actors’ Equity Association – New York
165 West 46th Street, 14th Floor Council Room
(Enter through the Times Square Visitor Center at 1560 Broadway, between 46th & 47th Streets, next to McDonald’s.)

This event is free and open to the public.
Seating is first-come, first-served.
Post-performance discussion with the artists follows. Refreshments will be served.
