Teaching Opportunities

Broadway Connection Creates Teaching Opportunities for Dancers

Broadway Connection, a company created by Equity members Jennifer Jancuska and Melissa Harres, creates teaching opportunities for Equity members on the road. "This is an opportunity for performers to work on choreography and craft, inspire students across the nation and make extra money while on the road," says Jennifer. Broadway Connection takes care of all the details, including scheduling, advertising, booking and payment and guarantees prompt and direct payment to members for every two hour class taught. Broadway Connection also donates a portion of the proceeds from every class to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Jennifer and Melissa started Broadway Connection when they were performing in Thoroughly Modern Millie in Ohio. "We taught classes to the cast every week and found the dancing to be therapeutic and inspiring. The community wanted to join in and we instantly found a unique supply and demand that was healthy and very much needed by everyone involved. Currently, Equity members in the touring casts of Jersey Boys, The Color Purple and Spamalot are all enjoying the creativity of teaching as they travel."
