Reduced Price Dental Care For Professional Performers

The Actors Fund and the New York University College of Dentistry are proud to offer Broadway Smiles, a program that provides an opportunity to boost the smiles of young performers.

Many young professional actors and performers may be ashamed of their teeth due to spaces between teeth, missing teeth and misshapen, uneven, or discolored teeth. This may lead to missed opportunities in the job market or with extra-curricular activities.

People selected for the Broadway Smiles program will be professional performers between 15 and 30 years of age who exhibit financial need. Potential patients need to call the NYU School of Continuing Dentistry at 212.998.9837 to set up an appointment for an aesthetic screening.

Qualified patients will pay reduced fees for such treatments as tooth colored fillings, bleaching, bonding, laminates and crowns. For example, the NYU regular fees for laminates and crowns are $800. Selected program participants will pay $400. Additional aesthetic dental treatment will be discounted accordingly: Bleaching -$250.00 (regular fee $500), Tooth colored fillings -$125.00 (regular fee $250).

If a patient is accepted to the program, he or she will be assigned to a team of participant students and faculty. Patient's financial obligations and treatment timetable will be discussed during the initial visit. If a patient requires additional non-aesthetic dental treatment such as root canals, dental implants, orthodontic or some other treatment, the patient will also be referred to other departments within the school.

NYU patient registration and necessary X-rays will be covered for qualified patients due to generosity of Dr. Irwin and Lucia Smigel Fund. This special fund has helped many performers receive quality aesthetic dental care at significantly reduced fees, and to look forward to brighter smiles and more confident futures.
