"Women in the Biz" Raise Money, Awareness in NY and LA In Revlon Run/Walk to Fight Cancer

Actors Fund Team - NYC

People from all corners of the entertainment industry joined forces to participate in this year's Entertainment Industry Foundation Revlon Run/Walk for Women in New York on May 5th and in Los Angeles on May 12th. Spearheaded by a leadership committee made up of team captain Lynn Redgrave, Actors' Fund chief program officer Barbara Davis, BC/EFA's Maria Di Dia, SAG President Emeritus Eileen Henry, AFTRA National President Roberta Reardon and Equity's Eastern Regional Director Carol Waaser, the New York and Los Angeles teams walked for the "Women in the Biz" and to support the Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative of The Actors' Fund, which offers comprehensive health and support services to all women in the industry who are faced with illness

The May 5th walk in New York City brought more than 40,000 people to Times Square, including more than 125 walkers/runners who participated with the "Women in the Biz" team. The team also provided 50 volunteers for the event, who helped hand out refreshments and cheer on walkers at the finish line in Central Park.

The LA event on May 12th brought out 50,000 men, women and children to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for a 5K walk that ended on the Olympic field at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Team LA had over 60 walkers/runners and more than 20 volunteers who assisted at the event.

Thanks to the unwavering support of the runners and walkers who have participated in these New York and Los Angeles annual events, EIF's Revlon Run/Walk for Women grants have helped fund cutting-edge research, bringing new and innovative treatment approaches to women's cancers worldwide. To date, nearly $45 million has been distributed, in addition to funding life-saving research, grants made also support a number of caring organizations that provide education, advocacy and outreach services to those affected by women's cancers.
