Welcome New Members ! Congratulations on joining Actors' Equity Association! You are now a part of a powerful community of more than 49,000 members nationwide who epitomize the creative talent of the American theatre.
 WICKED 1st National Tour welcomes three new Equity Members to its company. Equity's proud history began more than 90 years ago when a few performers banded together to stop the exploitation of actors. By 1919 the group grew in number and strength and brought about a strike that forced producers to negotiate the first Equity contract. That contract became the blueprint for the more than 40 contracts the Union administers today. In addition to the hard - won wages, benefits and safeguards that are outlined in our contracts, Equity also provides access to a number of resources including tax preparation, loans, discounts, seminars and social services through our affiliations with VITA, the Actor's Federal Credit Union, The Actors' Fund and other entertainment service organizations. A complete list of these and other industry resources can be found on our website. Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with what the Union has to offer- you will be surprised with the breadth of services available to an Equity member. As a member of AEA, you are also a part of a national network of professionals. We have three offices and 24 liaison cities across the country. This extensive connectivity to the Union and the many things it offers is a really great way to know what is going on in the Union as well as the theatrical community as a whole.
