Area Description
The Greater Washington DC-Baltimore liaison area is home to nearly 1000 Equity members. Washington is a national center for the arts, with the Kennedy Center as its cornerstone. Institutions such as Arena Stage, Shakespeare Theater Company and the Studio Theatre feature classic works and new American plays. In Baltimore, the Hippodrome offers touring productions of Broadway shows and Center Stage is a LORT theater. Both cities offer dozens of theaters that utilize Equity contracts. Each year the Helen Hayes Awards are a glamorous and exciting event that honors the best of the theater season in DC.
