Actors' Equity Association's Young Performers Committee will host a free career workshop for young performers on Saturday, November 9 from 10 AM to 2:15 PM. The workshop is open to Equity and non-Equity performers between the ages of 8 and 16 (and their families) who are pursuing careers in the theatrical industry. The workshop will be held in the second floor Audition Center at Equity, 165 W. 46th Street.
Among the events planned for the Young Performers Seminar are workshops on:
- techniques needed for the musical/comedy audition, taught by Robert Marks
- improvisational acting techniques, taught by Denise Simon of Denise Simon Acting Workshop
- panel session with agents, casting directors, managers and an acting coach
The final session of the day is entitled "The Children of LES MISERABLES." Since this show opened on Broadway in 1983, a host of young actors have performed in this show. Many have stayed in the business and are now young adult actors, performing or studying while continuing their careers. Tony Award winning actress Daisy Eagan will be among the panelists who will discuss what is was like for them to mature in the industry and their perspective on their careers as young performers
Space is limited, so reservations are required. Please RSVP to Willie Boston at 212-869-8530 or e-mail:firstname.lastname@example.org
