Theatre Administrator/Labor Negotiator Harriet Slaughter to discuss "How to Negotiate Almost Anything" at Professional Women's Networking Event on Monday evening, January 12, 2004 at The Players

Theatre administrator/labor negotiator Harriet Slaughter will present a program on How to Negotiate Almost Anything at a Blatant Self-Interest Networking Event sponsored by the New York Coalition of Professional Women in the Arts & Media on Monday, January 12, 2004 beginning at 6 p.m. at The Players, 16 Gramercy Park South (20th Street and Park Avenue South).

Ms. Slaughter brings to her subject more than 25 years of experience, most recently as Director of Labor Relations for The League of American Theatres and Producers, where she negotiated contracts with more than a dozen labor unions involved in the mounting of a theatrical production. She recently assumed the post of Co-Director of Pension and Health for the League, serving as a trustee on 14 Taft Hartley theatre pension and health funds.

A former actor, Ms. Slaughter was Co-President of the League of Professional Theatre Women for four years and co-produced two 13-week cable television series, Women in Theatre, for CUNY-TV, Channel 75. In addition, she serves on the board of the Encompass New Opera and helped to establish BWAY (Better Wellness and You), which provides free health services and health fairs for the entertainment industry. Ms. Slaughter is a former adjunct professor at Brooklyn College and is a frequent guest lecturer at Yale, Columbia and NYU.

The Blatant Self-Interest Networking Event, now in its seventh year, provides participants with an opportunity to network with members of related organizations and to share experiences and career goals.

The New York Coalition of Professional Women in the Arts & Media was organized in 1990 to work for the advancement of women in the performing arts and media industries. Affiliates of the Coalition include: American Federation of Television and Radio Artists; Dramatists Guild; League of Professional Theatre Women/NY; NY Women in Film and Television; Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers and Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation, and the Women's Committees of Actors' Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild and Writers Guild of America, East.

Pre-paid admission to the Blatant Self-interest Networking Event is $12.
