On Saturday, September 6th, the 2003 Labor Day Parade in New York drew thousands of workers from a wide variety of unions and guilds, including a lively contingent of actors, stage managers, stage hands and musicians from Actor's Equity, SAG (Screen Actors Guild), AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists), AGMA (American Guild of Musical Artists), Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians and affiliated IATSE Locals from the Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG).

At the starting point on East 44th Street, Equity President Patrick Quinn, Equity Eastern Regional Vice President Arne Gundersen and Executive Director Alan Eisenberg greeted other union officials, including Local 802's Bill Moriarty and Bill Dennison; AGMA President Linda Mays, and AFTRA NY Local President and 2nd VP National Roberta Reardon.

Several Equity Councillors joined the throng, including Paul Ames, Sandra Bloom, Jeanna Belkin, and Judy Rice.

The 90th Anniversary Equity banner, featuring comedy-tragedy masks, made its New York debut, proudly carried all the way up Fifth Avenue by Equity Councillor Scott Watanabe.

Also on hand were Equity staff members John V. Fahey, Anne Fortuno, Wayne LeGette, Zalina Hoosein, David Lotz, Herb Quebec, Flora Stamatiades, and Equity Eastern Regional Director Carol Waaser.

AFL-CIO President John J. Sweeney greeted marchers at the reviewing stand on 69th Street before the march ended. Participants were then invited to Central Park's Boathouse for a post-march snack courtesy of AGMA.

Special thanks to volunteer coordinators Dani Carr (SAG), Julie Halpern (AFTRA), Jan Hollander (AGMA), and Heather Beaudoin and Milton Charles from Local 802 for making the day a great success.
