Equity, AGMA Partner in "Movin' Out" Payments
Linda Mays and Patrick Quinn

Patrick Quinn, president of Actors' Equity and Linda Mays, president of The American Guild of Musical Artists help resolve differences over the jurisdiction of MOVIN' OUT and LA BOHEME

President Patrick Quinn has written to the company of MOVIN' OUT reporting on the amicable settlement of the dispute over jurisdiction of that production. He also noted that Equity and AGMA had shared payments for lost performances as a result of the Musicians' strike in March 2003. Mr. Quinn told the company that when performers supported the Musicans' Local 802 strike by not crossing their picket lines, the Council of Actors' Equity authorized a payment to all Equity members of $100 for each lost performance. At that time, Equity and AGMA were in a jurisdictional dispute over Movin' Out, which has since been settled amicably by both unions.

As part of the agreement of shared jurisdiction, AGMA became Equity's partner in this payment and was responsible for 70% of the strike benefits that were received by affected members.

Mr. Quinn thanked Linda Mays, President of AGMA, and Executive Director Alan Gordon "for bringing a satisfactory conclusion to this issue" and he looked forward "to a future of continued cooperation between our two unions, with the goal to always protect you as union members."
