The 2003 Central Florida Membership Meeting was a great success. More than 50 performers were in attendance along with Executive Director Alan Eisenberg and Eastern Regional Director Carol M. Waaser who traveled to Orlando for the event. Meetings were held at 2:00pm and 7:30 pm to accomodate the variety of performance schedules for local Equity actors.

The membership was informed of recent achievements at Walt Disney World including a $15,000 payment to more than 50 performers whose photos were used in Birnbaum's Travel Guidebooks, and a $30,000 Pro-rated Contract Completion Bonus payment to 85 Disney performers who were laid off or whose shows were closed since October, 2000. Ms. Waaser also announced that a procedural agreement is now in place to handle jurisdictional disputes that may arise at Walt Disney World.

The Central Florida Liaison Committee informed the members in attendance that they are attempting to be even more active in the coming year. A series of educational "Forums" will be held on a variety of topics ranging from Tax Preparation to a Casting. Also, the Committee is compiling a booklet to be available to Equity members who are new to the Orlando area. This "Welcome Packet" will list recommended resources for Auto Repair, Medical & Dental providers, Child Care, Pet Care, and a variety of other topics. The Committee is also looking to further their communication with local membership by increasing the number of Newsletters that are sent out each year.

The open floor discussions centered largely on the question of organizing non-traditional entertainment venues in the area.
