Roxane Barlow is the latest recipient of Equity's famous "Gypsy Robe,” in DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS at the Imperial Theatre on Broadway. The colorful robe was presented to the Chorus member at a special backstage ceremony on March 3, 2005, recreating an historic, theatrical ritual that began on Broadway over 50 years ago.

Ms. Barlow has performed in twelve Broadway shows and three national tours, as well as the film version of CHICAGO. She previously garnered the Gypsy Robe in FOLLIES (2001) and NEVER GONNA DANCE (2003), and was “delighted” to receive the robe for a third time.

Milena Govich, who received the robe in GOOD VIBRATIONS, made the presentation on stage on opening night. Kicking off the ceremony, Gypsy Robe Director Terry Marone introduced Milena and other previous robe recipients, including: Jack Dabdoub (SHOWBOAT); Merwyn Foard (ASSASINS, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES); Sarah Gettelfinger (NINE); Robin Haynes (BLOOD BROTHERS), Amy Heggins (THOU SHALT NOT, DREAM); Gina Lamparella (GYPSY); choreographer Jerry Mitchell (WILL ROGERS FOLLIES); Bill Nable (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST); and Tom Titone (FIDDLER ON THE ROOF). (Note: Gettelfinger, Heggins and Lamparella are in the cast of SCOUNDRELS).

SCOUNDRELS’ stars Norbert Leo Butz, Joanna Gleason, Gregory Jbara, John Lithgow and Sherie Rene Scott joined the festivities, as did a surprise contingent of Cagelles from the neighboring musical, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. Marone introduced Equity Communications Director David Lotz, Equity Chorus Councillor Scott Watanabe, and extended greetings from Equity Executive Director Alan Eisenberg, who was in LORT negotiations.
