Good News: Equity, Troika Sign Pact for Starlight Express Tour

Equity and Troika Entertainment have signed an agreement for the current tour of Starlight Express. The agreement was settled on September 10, 2003 following talks in Chicago. The contract covers wages, benefits and working conditions, and both sides said the agreement marks the beginning of a new, cooperative relationship and a commitment to "good faith bargaining and flexibility in our future negotiations." Representing Equity were Equity's National Director of Organizing, Flora Stamatiades, and Western Regional Director, John Holly; for Troika, Executive Producer/CEO, Nicholas Howey, and Randall A. Buck, Chief Operating Officer.

The Agreement "mutually benefits the actors, the producers and, ultimately, the audience," said Equity Executive Director Alan Eisenberg and Troika's Nicholas Howey.

Starlight Express has a cast of 30 actors plus a stage manager. The tour is scheduled to play one week or multi-week engagements in major markets through the summer of 2004, including Minneapolis, Kansas City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Memphis, St. Louis and other cities.

Troika Entertainment has previously produced both Equity and non-Equity touring productions.
