Manoel Felciano Dons Legendary Gypsy Robe In BROOKLYN, THE MUSICAL

Manoel Felciano is the newest recipient of Equity's famous "Gypsy Robe” for Broadway’s newest musical, BROOKLYN, THE MUSICAL. The colorful robe was presented to the Chorus member at a special backstage ceremony at the Plymouth Theatre on October 21, 2004, recreating an historic, theatrical ritual that began on Broadway over 50 years ago.

Manoel has appeared in a number of Broadway shows, including CABARET and JESUS CHRIST, SUPERSTAR.

Equity Chorus Councillor Thomas Jay Miller kicked off the celebration by introducing Equity Executive Director Alan Eisenberg, Communications Director David Lotz, Gypsy Robe “Director” Terry Marone and Robe Historian Gloria Rosenthal. He also introduced three previous robe recipients, Rommy Sandhu (BOMBAY DREAMS), Bill Nabel (PETER PAN), and Megan Sikora (DRACULA), who explained the robe’s history before announcing the “winner” – Manoel Felciano!
