| Equity Statement re SAG-AFTRA Consolidation | |
|
By a narrow margin (2.2%), the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) failed to approve the proposed consolidation plan with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). AFTRA members approved Consolidation by more than 75%. The proposed Consolidation required the support of 60% of the membership from both unions for passage. Results are posted on both websites: sag.org and aftra.org. Actor's Equity President Patrick Quinn and Executive Director Alan Eisenberg have issued the following statement: "Although we are disappointed with the outcome of the consolidation referendum, we applaud the attempt by both SAG and AFTRA to bring this decades-old dream to fruition. Actors' Equity will continue to cooperate with our sister unions in every way possible to improve conditions for all of our members." | |
