Shakespeare Monologue Workshop

With AEA Member & Director Melinda Hall


Are you booking the Shakespearean roles you want?  If not, then it may be time to improve your Shakespeare audition piece. Join us for a workshop that will spark your creativity and send you into your audition with confidence. The technique offered will embrace direct address, relationship with the audience and comprehension of the text.  This session promises to be joyful and encouraging. 

As Shakespeare says: "The Readiness is All”.

If you wish, come prepared with a 1-2 minute Shakespeare monologue OFF BOOK as selected attendees (chosen by lottery) will have the opportunity to work with Ms. Hall. Also, please bring a printed/paper copy of your text (not on your phone or iPad).

About Melinda Hall

Melinda Hall is a writer, director, producer and actor that lives in NYC.  Her current feature / episodic project is: HOW SHAKESPEARE CHANGED MY LIFE in which she interviews people who share a pivotal moment how Shakespeare literally changed their lives. Her company, Willful Pictures produces the annual Shakespeare's Birthday Sonnet Slam at the Naumberg Bandshell in Central Park every April. In 2013, Ms. Hall gave a talk and demonstration on the style of Directing for Shakespeare for the stage for the Shakespeare Lecture Series at the New York Public Library. She was recently featured on a panel for the SAG Foundation at Baruch College that discussed Shakespeare in the Modern Age. Throughout April, she will be producing "CELEBRATE SHAKESPEARE" which will feature various Shakespeare related events in NYC.

Along with being the Shakespeare Moderator for the SAG Conservatory, she privately coaches actors for film and theater auditions and is a member of AEA, SAG-AFTRA and THE DRAMATIST GUILD.
