“NYC Service,” Blueprint to Encourage/Promote Service and Volunteerism in NYC, Is Launched by Mayor Bloomberg

Connects/Creates Service Opportunities With Non-Profit, Public Agencies - Just A Click Away!

In his January 2009 State of the City Address, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg pledged that New York City would lead the way in answering President Obama’s call for the nation to embrace a new era of service. At a recent press conference, he launched NYC Service, an online program to encourage/promote volunteer opportunities with non-profit organizations and public agencies.

Members of Actors' Equity Association and other entertainment unions have a long history of donating their time and skills to help those in need. Whether it be a benefit concert, a reading program or a free acting class, our members are always ready, willing and able to answer the call. With NYC Service, volunteer opportunities are now just a click away.

NYC Service can help you find an opportunity that best suits your skills and availability or help create an opportunity that you think needs addressing. Whatever you have to offer would be greatly appreciated and valued. If you aren’t sure what you would like to do, just plug in your zip code and they will show you where volunteers are needed in your area.

By establishing a comprehensive local approach to supporting service and citizen engagement, NYC Service empowers New Yorkers of every age to contribute to the health and well being of their neighbors - and their neighborhoods. To find out more visit www.nycservice.org.
