SPT Contract Extended

The Small Professional Theatre Contract (SPTC) has been extended for one year with a 3% increase in all minimum salaries. The three regional Developing Theatre Committees recommended the extension and Council approved it on March 18, 2008. The health rate is set for each year by Senior Staff in consultation with the Chair of the Equity Trustees Caucus of the Pension and Health Trust Funds. That rate had already been established for the period covered by the extension.

The Small Professional Theatre Contract, extended now to May 31, 2009, is a promulgated agreement for theatres seating less than 350. There are ten categories of theatres, based on number of weekly performances and number of hours worked weekly. Actors' minimum salaries range from $187 for four weekly performances and 22 hours, to $554 for eight performances and 42 hours; Stage Manager salaries range from $226 for four performances and 24 hours to $647 for ten performances and 46 hours and Assistant Stage Managers' minimums range from $204 to $575 for similar weekly performances and hours.
