New BAT Agreement

New BAT (Bay Area Theatre) Agreement Features Significant Health Increases

The new Bay Area Theatre (BAT) Agreement approved by the Western Advisory Board on July 11, 2006 features a 46% increase in health payments over four years and a 9% increase in salaries.

Health payments go to $110 (up from $100) in the first year; $121 the second year; $133 the third year and top out at $146 in the fourth year of the agreement. Pension remains at 8%.

Minimum salaries in Intro Tier theatres go from $187 to $203 weekly over the four years; Tier 1, from $230 to $249; Tier 2, $311-$337; Tier 3, $381-$413; Tier 4, $467 to $505 and Tier 5, $530 to $574. Tiers are based on weekly box office receipts averaged over a three-year period.

There are also increases in payments for Dance Captain, increments for Chorus and shoe rentals.

In addition, there is new language re the use of smoke and haze, for raked stages and equal employment, and 401(k) language has been included.

Western Regional Director John Holly served as Chief Negotiator, assisted by San Francisco/Bay Area Advisory Committee (SF/BAAC) Chair Jerry Mark, Business Representative Peter Russell and BAAC members Milt Commons, Phoebe Moyer and Susan Reamy.
