Equity Hosts First Ever Office Managers Conference

Office Managers for the three largest Equity offices – New York, Chicago and Los Angeles – met at Equity headquarters recently for a first-ever office managers’ conference. Steve DiPaola, Equity’s National Director for Administration, organized the conference, with assistance from his associate JP Regit, as part of an expanded effort to enhance team building, increase awareness about the similarities and differences between each office and set priorities and goals for the future.

Participants included Marie Gottschall (New York); Travis Truitt (Chicago) and Richard Colucci (Los Angeles). Travis is the newest Equity office manager, having started this past April.

The objectives of the conference were: to evaluate where Equity stands at present from a management perspective; to further develop relationships so that the managers feel comfortable using each other as a resource; meet with the National Directors to discuss areas where their responsibilities intersect to help Equity meet its objectives and to best serve its members; outline initiatives for the coming year; and explore integrated solutions for Office Management/Human Resources.

“Everyone agreed that this was a terrific experience,” said Steve. “Office managers are a key component of Equity’s staff, so it’s important that they have a sense of their connection to the overall structure of Actors’ Equity. We achieved our goals and look forward to a better understanding in the future of how to best assist our staff in accomplishing their work for Equity’s members.”
