Actors' Equity Association and VITA present TAX TOUR 2018 with SANDRA KARAS - working actor, tax attorney, VITA chair

Sandra Karas, Equity's Secretary-Treasurer, a working actor, licensed tax attorney and Chair and Director of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, offered tax seminars in nine cities across the US this year. Now, she's offering them online as well.

The video seminars help members learn what to organize, how to keep records and what's required in an audit. Karas also discusses the rules for filing 2017 returns as well as what to expect for 2018 under the new law.

To prepare for the seminar, members should download and print a copy of the 2017 VITA worksheet.

Equity was active during the debate over the "Tax Cuts and Jobs Act," warning that the bill would unfairly punish members by eliminating deductions for ordinary and necessary business expenses. Those changes will take effect next tax season. Learn more about how the new tax law will hurt members of the entertainment industry. Then, view our Tax Fairness Toolkit to learn more about how to make your voice heard.

The seminar is offered in four segments:
