A Historic 65-Year Backstage Tradition on Broadway

The “Everlasting” Robe! Lisa B. Gajda wears the Gypsy Robe for Tuck Everlasting

“The Gypsy Robe ceremony is the only true celebration of the chorus person in all of show business. It’s also special to me because it connects me — and everyone who participates in the ceremony — to people who've worked in the ensemble since the 1950s.”

Name: Lisa B. Gajda

Hometown: Great Neck, NY

Opening Night: April 26, 2016

Broadway Debut: Tommy (1995)

Professional Training: “I studied first at Zawacki Dance Studio in Great Neck, then Steps on Broadway and then Tremaine's in Los Angeles.

Year Joined Equity: 1995 with the national tour of Tommy

How I Got My Equity Card: “I auditioned for H2$ [How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying] on Broadway and didn't get it, but the creative team thought I was right for a replacement in their tour of Tommy. They wrote my name down, called me in and I got the job, which got me my Equity card.”

Broadway Chorus Credits: 18

Fun Fact: “My life began when I had a child.”
