Amidst an opening night of excitement, Katie Webber gets Equity’s Gypsy Robe®

A Historic 60-Year Backstage Tradition on Broadway

Giddy with excitement for their opening night of Honeymoon in Vegas, at the Nederlander Theatre, the cast gathered on stage for the iconic Gypsy Robe® ceremony on January 15, 2015. With tons of cast photo bombs, kisses and tears, Katie Webber put on the Gypsy Robe and took her three laps around the stage as everyone cheered, which was, of course, followed by more tears and photo bombing.
This colorful ceremony, which honors a chorus member (a “gypsy”) who has the most Broadway chorus credits, is a cherished backstage tradition.

How I Got My Equity Card “I went to a Los Angeles open call for WICKED during the summer of '05 not really even knowing much about Actors’ Equity. I was lucky enough to be seen at the audition and then get to the final callback. Several months later, I got a call saying that WICKED on Broadway needed me to start immediately. I packed a bag, moved to NYC and the rest is history!”

Fun Fact “I'm a crazy dog lady! I have three Chihuahuas: Lola, Mimi and Merry!"
