Central Region Stage Managers’ Committee Presents

A Discussion with Stage Manager Malcolm Ewen

Monday, April 22, 2013

On Monday, April 22, 2013, the Central Region Stage Managers’ Committee will present a discussion with CRB Stage Manager Malcolm Ewen at 6 pm at Steppenwolf Theatre’s Yondorf Rehearsal Hall.

Malcolm Ewen will discuss concerns about his recent transfer of "Edward Albee’s Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" from regional theatre to a run on Broadway. Additionally, there will discussion of how open-run Broadway shows differ from the limited runs in most regional theatres.

Ewen is a veteran of five Broadway shows, four of which transferred from Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre to Broadway. He has been a resident Stage Manager at Steppenwolf since 1987.

The Yondorf Rehearsal Hall is located on the second floor of Steppenwolf's administrative office building at the corner of North Ave. and Halsted St. (758 W. North Ave.). The entrance is on the east side of the building. There is a CTA Red line stop a half block away and a number of CTA buses also stop at the corner. If you are planning to drive, please do not park in the open air lot adjacent to the administrative building. You may park in the open air lot by the theatre (1650 North Halsted) or in the lots under the elevated tracks by the administrative offices.
