Equity Launches New Member and Employer Web Portals

State-of-the-Art System Radically Streamlines and Improves AEA’s Internal Operations and Member Services

For two years, Equity has been building vast, new enhancements to its information technology infrastructure to streamline internal operations for the 49,000 member Association. The new, state-of-the-art system was launched on April 2, 2012 and will significantly improve the way various Equity departments interact with each other and the Membership at large. A new web-based Member Portal and Employer Portal are the key components of this new system.

What are some of the features on the new Member Portal?
The Member Portal has a sleek, easy to navigate design with greatly enhanced options that are controlled by the user. Your current username and password is the same for this new Portal.

In the new Portal, you can manage your Profile, update your address, manage your contact preferences and change your log-on/password in real time, 24/7. Other options include the ability to select online billing, receive Equity News online, choose paperless balloting in AEA’s elections, and subscribe to e-mail by topic. The Agency and Theatre Directories, VITA information and exclusive AEA discounts will continue to be available. A new feature is a "Member Support" option, which allows you to submit problems or questions online for quicker response or resolution.

How do I get to the new Member Portal? Will my username/password change? Click on the "Members Only" link from AEA’s homepage to get to the new site. You do NOT have to change your current username or password. You can also logon directly by going to members.actorsequity.org.

Employer Portal: employers.actorsequity.org

What is the Employer Portal?
This portal will allow employers to interact with Equity staff, and submit production information electronically, reducing the need for duplicate data entry. Future features will include electronic contracts, and submission of working dues payments to the Union. For the member, this means the Union will have a more efficient, state-of-the-art interaction with Producers on your behalf.

What are the benefits for the Union?
Equity’s core database infrastructure is over 10 years old – a lifetime in today’s high-speed technology universe. The new system offers more flexibility, rapid development, improved integration with other technologies, and the ability to facilitate communication and business process workflow. These changes will affect all aspects of the Union’s internal operations: Finance, Bonding, Accounting, Membership, Contract Administration, and Communications. By bringing this system in house, Equity is streamlining its operations from top to bottom to provide better services at a lower cost - thus saving your dues dollars.
