Get Covered: Understand Your Health Insurance Options

The South Florida Equity Liaison Committee invites you to an important seminar Monday, January 24th, 2011

The Crest Theatre
51 N. Swinton Avenue
Delray Beach, FL 33444

Get Covered: Understand Your Health Insurance Options Now and Under Health Care Reform

This workshop will focus on health care and health insurance options for performing artists in South Florida. The aim is to give those in our community a firm grounding in coverage basics, a comprehensive overview of options in our area, and a better ability to make health insurance decisions. We’ll also review health care reform and how it affects you now and in the future. There will be a Q&A period at the end of the workshop.

This seminar is being conducted by Renata Marinaro who is Manager of Health Services Education at the Artists Health Insurance Resource Center (AHIRC) of The Actors Fund. The Actors Fund is a national, non-profit organization that provides for the social welfare of all entertainment professionals.

Renata counsels professionals in the entertainment industry nationwide and has written guides to health care in 18 creative communities, as well as “Every Artist Insured”, a guide to health care reform. She is also a clinical social worker and has worked at a substance abuse facility and several hospitals in the New York metro area.

The seminar will be followed by the Annual Equity General Membership Meeting

The Healthcare Seminar will be from 5:30pm-7:00pm
Meet and Greet with Refreshments at 7:00pm
Membership Meeting 7:30-9:30pm

Our scheduled guests include Assistant Executive Director/Eastern Regional Director, Rick Berg, and Business Representative, Matthew Summersgill.

On the agenda is discussion about what is going on in our region, selection of the liaison committee, community service volunteer opportunities for 2011, and a town-hall open forum for you to ask questions of our visiting Equity representatives. On the agenda will be discussion about the elimination of Doug Truelsen’s position of South East Traveling Representative.

If there are any questions, issues, or concerns you have, and would like to see addressed at the meeting, please email them to me in advance so that our guests can be prepared with the information to help answer them. Also, if you are interested in being on the ballot for liaison committee selection and/or you would like more information about what being on the committee entails, please contact me, Irene Adjan, at EquityLiaison@aol.com.

Your liaison committee works hard all year to help service the needs of our regional theatre community. Please show them your support by attending this once-a-year meeting. See friends and colleagues, have some refreshments and, hopefully, walk away with some useful information.

You do not have to attend both portions of the evening. You can come to just the Seminar or just the Membership Meeting, if you so choose.

The meeting is hosted by your Equity Liaison Committee: Irene Adjan, Barbara Bradshaw, Oscar Cheda, Dave Corey, John Felix, Terry Hardcastle, Wayne LeGette, Amy London, Margery Lowe, Margot Moreland, Marjorie O’Neill-Butler, Barbara Sloan, Laura Turnbull and Tom Wahl.
