Equity Actors, Theatres Shine at Suzi Bass Awards The Suzi Bass Awards proudly hosted their fifth annual celebration on Monday November 9 from the stage and veranda of the beautiful and spacious Conant Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Oglethorpe University, home of GA Shakespeare. Awards in 20 categories were presented. Theatrical Outfit's Big River took home the honor for Outstanding Production - Musical as well as kudos for Featured Actor, AEA member Tom Key and Music Director, S. Renee Clark. Outstanding Production - Play went to Theatre in the Square's production of A Man for All Seasons, with Lead Actor honors going to John Ammerman. Theatre in the Square's Tradin' Paint received Director honors for Jessica Phelps West and Lead Actress, Veronika Duerr. AEA members Donna Biscoe, Tim McDonough and Jackie Prucha were cited for Featured Acting in Horizon Theatre's A COOL DRINK OF WATER, Georgia Shakespeare's CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF and Atlanta Lyric's CABARET respectively. Rob Lawhon garnered the Lead Actor - Musical category in Georgia Ensemble Theatre's BUDDY: THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY. The Best Ensemble Play Award was presented to for colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf, directed by Jasmine Guy at Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre.
