Equity Knitting Circle, Love Keeps You Warm Benefits Stephen J. Falat Holiday Basket Project by Pearl Brady, AEA Staffer For the third year in a row, a small but industrious group of Equity staffers have embarked on a massive scarf knitting and crocheting project. Benefiting the annual Stephen J Falat Holiday Basket Project, Love Keeps You Warm was founded in 2006 by former Council Secretary Diana Previtire to honor the memory of the late Equity President Patrick Quinn. This year the group is led by Equity staff member Pearl Brady, who learned how to knit because of the project. “My boss [Equity Business Representative Russell Lehrer] taught me the first basic stitches, and from there I was hooked,” she said. “Knitting scarves for the Basket Project is an important way for Equity to help those in need, and it’s a great way to learn some new fun and useful skills in the process!” Hundreds of scarves have been donated to the Basket Project in past years, and this year will be no exception. “Since Equity Members are creative in so many ways, we have been extremely lucky to receive donations of handmade winter weather accessories as well as skein after skein of yarn from Members throughout the country.” Love Keeps You Warm is currently seeking donations of yarn, scarves, hats, and other winter accessories through Monday, November 24. For more information on Love Keeps You Warm, or if you or someone you know would like to donate, please contact Pearl Brady at pbrady@actorsequity.org or 212 869 8530 ext. 318.
