Denver Members Meet, Coach Vets For National Festival

On October 6, 2008, the Denver Area Liaison Committee (DALC) hosted the second annual Fall Gathering for members in the Denver area. "We had members from Colorado Springs joining us as well, which brought our turnout to 40 members enjoying the opportunity to socialize, network and catch up with each other in a relaxed setting," reports Susan Long, a member of the DALC. "We were graciously hosted by Racines Restaurant in Denver and were treated to hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.

"Donna Lonergan from the VA Hospital presented Valerie Hill with an award for her outstanding work in organizing the VA Initiative and its terrific success. Equity members coached Vets on their presentations for the National Veterans Fine Arts Festival held annually, and the Colorado participants came home with two Gold medals and a few more accolades. Because of the success of the Initiative we have begun the coaching again this fall as a way for Equity members to reach out to the larger community with our multitude of talents as volunteers," said Ms. Long.
