Hollywood To The Docks: LA County Federation of Labor Sponsors Massive Rally and March, April 15-17, 2008

Equity Members Urged To Join In The Fight for Good Jobs

Equity members are urged to join with other rank-and-file union members, allies and labor leaders to participate in an historic rally and march, "Hollywood to the Docks," from April 15 -17, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA.

"Hollywood to the Docks" will unite union members from all over Los Angeles and Southern California behind a single principle: No union stands alone when facing the difficulties of negotiation, organizing or in electing candidates that fight for the rights of working women and men. Actors and other entertainment union professionals who face contract talks this summer are a particularly important aspect of this movement. Significantly, AEA's own flagship Production Contract, which covers Broadway and National Tours, expires on June 29, 2008.

On Tuesday, April 15, at 9 AM, there will be a kick-off rally adjacent to Equity's headquarters at 5801 Wilshire Blvd (La Brea Tar Pits). Following the rally, a three-day, 28-mile march will begin, culminating in a mass rally at the Docks, Berth 87, 1st and Harbor, San Pedro. AEA Business Representative Oscar Garcia and WRB member Ned Schmidtke are coordinating Equity's participation in the events.

Here are (4) ways you can participate:

• Come to the kick-off rally on Tuesday, April 15 at 9 AM
• Join the three-day march to the docks. (Note: all core-walkers will be required to stay the entire three days. Lodging and food will be provided by the LA County Federation of Labor)
• Support/join the march in progress. Call Equity for details.
• Come to the mass rally in San Pedro on Thursday, April 17 at 6 pm
