Off Broadway Stage Manager's Networking Event is Success

AEA Stage Manager Genevieve Ortiz talks with Independent Producer Richard Scanlon

The third annual Off-Broadway Stage Manager's networking event, co-sponsored by Actors' Equity and the League of Off-Broadway Theatres and Producers, took place on Monday, June 30, 2007 in the Council Room at AEA headquarters. Equity Stage Managers had the opportunity to meet with producers and general managers from Equity Off-Broadway commercial ventures and institutional not-for-profits, including Playwrights Horizons, Second Stage Theatre, NY Theatre Workshop, Vineyard Theatre, The New Group, Primary Stages, and Manhattan Theatre Club.

The informal, speed-dating format allowed the Stage Managers to learn about the theatres' upcoming seasons, schedules and hiring practices, and present their resumes for future consideration. More than 60 AEA members took part in the event.

Cheryl Olszowka, who attended the event last year, told her friend and fellow AEA Stage Manager Amy Kaskeski that she should come to the event because it is "a good way to network for future job opportunities."

Kudos to Business Representative Michelle Kelts and Contract Associate Erin Denton, who planned this year's event. See you next year!
