Irving W. Cheskin
Actors' Equity Association mourns the loss of Irving W. Cheskin, a great friend, a champion of actors, and an advocate for the theater. Fondly known as "The Chief," Mr. Cheskin died Friday Night, December 19, 2008 peacefully in his sleep. Mr. Cheskin retired this Fall as Co-Chair of the Equity-League Pension and Health Trust Funds and was named Trustee Emeritus. In 2003, he received an honorary Equity Life Membership card. At the presentation, Mr. Cheskin was praised for his extraordinary work on behalf of the Funds and his caring, compassionate attitude towards actors and the theatre. "It gives me great satisfaction to be in a position that combines my love for the theatre with my deep concern and interest in the well-being of other people," he said.
