Applications Being Accepted for Roger Sturtevant Award

Applications are available online (click here) through March 15, 2009 for the 2008-2009 Roger Sturtevant Musical Theatre Award administered by the Actors' Equity Foundation.

The award, available to current Equity Membership Candidates (EMCs) who have demonstrated outstanding abilities in the musical theatre field, is a $1,000 check and a certificate presented to one male and one female. Selection is based on a videotaped audition, written recommendations and a completed application. A panel, including actor/members of the Equity Foundation and members of the Casting Society of America, choose the recipients. The judging panel adheres strictly to the principles of non-traditional casting and actively encourages actors of all cultural backgrounds to apply.

The award was begun by the family of noted casting director Roger Sturtevant, who died on June 29, 2003.
