NATIONAL CHILDCARE RESOURCES Auditions, agents, and childcare are often the top three on an actor's list of must-haves when juggling career and family. Actors are not the typical parent profile to whom daycare centers cater because of our sporadic employment, last minute auditions and night and weekend work. But, with some initial internet research you will be able to uncover national and state referral resources that will help an Actor identify childcare providers in his or her area. When you get your list of childcare provider referrals, here is some advice from Actor/Parents who have been in the acting trenches: 1. Audition the provider. Ask questions: How many children? Ages? Daily Activities? How many staff members? 2. Set up a regular part-time schedule. Providers are more likely to agree to "drop-in" care if a part-time commitment is in place. 3. Present yourself as a professional! Acting is a job like any other.
4. Search for the best options for your child. It is not always about a fancy facility. In addition to traditional daycare centers, there are licensed in-home providers who are self-employed and can be quite flexible.
