Paige Price Appointed to City Theatre Council
![]() AEA First Vice-President Paige Price First Vice-President Paige Price has been appointed by Speaker of the City Council Christine Quinn to serve as her representative to the newly-formed Theatre Sub-District Council. The Council, an independent not-for-profit corporation, was created by the City to oversee the distribution of a portion of the money earned from the sale of air-rights of Broadway theatres. The Council currently has a fund of approximately $2.5 million, with total potential assets of $20 million. "I am proud to be named as a designee to the Theatre Sub-District Council. I take this assignment and responsibility seriously and offer what I hope is a good mix of energy and creativity to this process for the betterment of the City's art, its workers and its visitors," said Ms. Price. Other members of the Council include: Mayoral appointees, Jed Bernstein, former Executive Director of the League of American Theatres and Producers; Ben Cameron, Program Director for the Arts, Doris Duke Charitable Foundation; and noted director/producer George C. Wolfe. In addition to the Speaker, public members include the Hon. Scott Stringer, Manhattan Borough President; Amanda Burden, Chairman of the New York City Planning Commission; and Kate Levin, Commissioner of Cultural Affairs. There has been no announcement as yet regarding the Sub-District Council's application and grant-making procedures, but the Department of City Planning has stated its commitment to a fair and open process.
