Amy Heggins Garners Gypsy Robe in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN
![]() Amy Heggins receives the Gypsy Robe in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN Amy Heggins is the newest recipient of Equity's Gypsy Robe for the Broadway blockbuster YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. The colorful garment was presented to Ms. Heggins on Opening Night (Thursday, November 8, 2007) at the Hilton Theatre. Lavishly decorated with mementos from recent Broadway musicals, the robe is given to the cast member with the most Broadway chorus credits. Amy has done 9 Broadway shows, including SPAMALOT, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLE, THOU SHALLT NOT, FOLLIES, ON THE TOWN, VICTOR/VICTORIA, BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS, and WILL ROGERS FOLLIES. She previously garnered the robe in 1997 in DREAM. Gypsy Robe Director Terry Marone welcomed the cast to the ceremony onstage, and introduced AEA Executive Director John P. Connolly, Secretary/Treasurer Conard Fowkes, Eastern Regional Director Carol Waaser and National Director of Policy Mary Lou Westerfield. Also participating were Communications Director David Lotz and Chorus Councillor Joanne Borts. Next, Ms. Marone introduced some of the previous robe recipients, including: Merwyn Foard (CAGE AUX FOLLES, ASSASINS), Paul Castree (HIGH FIDELITY), Harvey Evans (OKLAHOMA, SUNSET BLVD), Austin Colyer (SINGIN' IN THE RAIN), Michelle Kittrell (ALL SHOOK UP, LEGALLY BLONDE, URBAN COWBOY), Eileen Casey (MARILYN), Rommy Sandhu (BOMBAY DREAMS, MARY POPPINS), Bill Nabel (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST), and Megan Sikora (DRACULA). Amber Stone, who received the robe in GREASE, came forward to read the history of the robe before announcing the newest recipient: Amy Heggins. Amy donned the garment and in accordance with the tradition, circled the stage three times as each cast member touched the robe. Later, she visited each cast member's dressing room to bestow the robe's blessings.
