By Michelle Kittrell - Dance Captain, LEGALLY BLONDE
![]() Michelle Kittrell Week 6 - Good Bye NY, Hello, Frisco, Hello With our final week in the New York studio, we did three different run through's as well as implementing many vocal, script, and choreographic improvements. There were also numerous costume fittings and, because of this, our Swings were put to good use and filled in for those who were at the fittings. Swings are the incredibly talented non-performing members of the chorus who cover (understudy) the ensemble "tracks" and have to be ready to jump into any track at any given moment (sometimes several tracks in a single performance!). Because there were so many changes happening quickly, Rusty and I were always on hand to assist the Swings with new spacing, blocking, and choreography. Swings are so important especially in this rehearsal process and our Swings are amazing and dependable!
Diary Entries
I was asked to write a journal for Equity's website to explain what the position of Dance Captain entails from the ground up on a new Broadway musical. In my case, LEGALLY BLONDE.
Read All the entries: Now that our studio rehearsal time is complete, we are headed west to San Francisco for our out of town try-out. We will immediately begin the two weeks of " tech" and Rusty and I will begin creating actual charts for our Dance Captain "Bible". More to come...so check back next week!
