Austin / San Antonio Membership Meeting The Austin / San Antonio Liaison area had their annual membership meeting on Sunday, February 11 at The Austin Playhouse (SPT category 1) in Austin Texas. Representing AEA was Kathryn Lamkey, Central Regional Director and Western Region Stage Manager Councillor and Austin / San Antonio Liaison Bill McMillin. Many members attended the Austin Playhouse production of AN IDEAL HUSBAND ,which was followed by a reception for producers, actors, designers, directors, audience and theatre enthusiasts. The members only meeting followed the reception. Over 30 members were in attendance, with several having to leave due to being Producers or other conflicts of interest. In attendance at the meeting were 21 members, Dirk Van Allen, not pictured, is the photographer (see photo below). Dirk was also 2005's Lucy Jordan Award winner. The Austin Playhouse's Managing Artistic Director, also not pictured, was the 2006 Lucy Jordan Award winner. Kathryn Lamkey spoke to the members about the new Executive Director, the search for a new Western Regional Director and Health Insurance. Bill McMillin spoke on the local scene, speaking to the closing of The State Theatre Company (SPT 7) due to the flood damage, as well as the prospect of several new companies and venues. The Austin / San Antonio area has 159 AEA members, 3 SPT theatres. one URTA theatre, 1 Production Theatre (GREATER TUNA CORP.), several Umbrella Theatres . The Austin Circle of Theatres, an Arts Service Organization, which is The Producer of Record for the Umbrella Agreement and also an AEA approved Paymaster, reported they paid out over $100,000 in AEA salaries in 2006.
