Suzi Bass Awards Presented in Atlanta
The third annual Suzi Bass Awards drew an audience of more than 350 to the gala celebration of theatre in Atlanta. Theatre in the Square was the most rewarded company, with eight trophies, four for their sold out production of TURNED FUNNY, inspired by the life and times of noted Atlanta journalist Celestine Sibley. There were awards for Lead Actress Linda Stephens, Featured Actress Jill Jane Clements and Outstanding Production. Theatre in the Square also took home prizes for the regional premiere of MOUNT PLEASANT HOMECOMING. Featured Actress and Actor Jennifer Akin and Alan Kilpatrick were cited, and the musical also won for Outstanding Ensemble - Musical. Neal Ghant was named for featured performance in GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS at Atlanta's Tony-Award winning Alliance Theatre. Jeff McKerley took home two honors, Lead Actor in a Musical, and Choreography, for CABARET. Actor's Express received recognition for Claci Miller's Lead Actress in a Musical performance in the Atlanta premiere of THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL and for Doyle Reynolds as Lead Actor in a Play for I AM MY OWN WIFE.
