Amber Stone…You're the One that the Gypsy Robe Wants! Amber Stone is the newest recipient of Equity's Gypsy Robe for the revival of GREASE. The vibrant garment was presented to Ms. Stone on opening night (Sunday, August 19, 2007) at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, recreating a time-honored tradition that began over 50 years ago.
![]() Peter Samuel, Amber Stone On the opening night of every Broadway musical, the Gypsy Robe is presented to the chorus cast member with the most Broadway chorus credits. The robe is lavishly decorated by members of the wardrobe department with their own personal touches to represent the musical, continuing the illustrious tradition. Amber, who is the Dance Captain and Swing in GREASE, was previously on Broadway in THE PAJAMA GAME. An hour before the opening night curtain, Gypsy Robe Director, Terry Marone welcomed the cast to the ceremony onstage and introduced Gloria Rosenthal, the Robe Historian. The excitement was palpable as she introduced a bevy of previous robe recipients:

Ms. Marone also welcomed those making their Broadway debut, including: Max Crum, Laura Osnes, Ryan Patrick Binder, Daniel Everidge, Lindsay Mendez, Jose Restrepo, Jamison Scott, Josh Franklin, Emily Padgett, Keven Quillon, and Anna Aimee White. During the Sunday night ceremony, the previous robe recipient, Curtis Holbrook, unable to attend, so Xanadu Assistant Stage Manager Peter Samuel stepped in to pass along the robe, assisted by Arturo E. Porazzi and John Atherlay. Peter Samuel previously received the robe in the chorus of THE SECRET GARDEN and MARIE CHRISTINE. Amber stepped forward, exuberantly accepted the robe and circled the stage three times before visiting each dressing room to bestow the robe's "blessings" on this new Broadway revival.
