Actors' Equity Signs Three-Year Pact with Association of Non-Profit Theatre Companies (ANTC)

Significant Increases in Salaries, Health Rates Achieved

Actors' Equity has signed a new three-year contract with the Association of Non-Profit Theatre Companies (ANTC), achieving significant increases in salaries and health rates. The pact, which was set to expire on August 5, was approved by Equity's Eastern Regional Board at its meeting on July 31, 2007.

The ANTC agreement is used by various NYC non-profit theatre companies, including the Atlantic Theatre Company, Classic Stage Company, MCC Theater, The New Group, Primary Stages, Signature Theatre Company, the Vineyard Theatre and the Women's Project. This season, the York Theatre has been approved to use the agreement.

In the 2005 - 06 season, the ANTC Agreement generated 2580 work weeks, a 34% increase over the previous season. Earnings during this period reached $1,164,121

Minimum salaries, currently ranging from $265 - $441 for Actors, will increase by 10% during the term of the agreement, by 4% in year one, 3% in year two, and 3% in year three. The increments for Stage Managers and Assistant Stage Managers will go up by the same percentages.

Health rates will increase by 23% over three years, increasing from $155 (current) to $167, $180 and $193 in each successive year.

Other improvements were achieved in the areas of program bios, billing and advertising, costumes and smoke and haze.

To accommodate the theatres' growth, the average weekly box office ranges (used to determine the theatre's category) were upped by 5%, in addition to a higher cap on the three-year operating expenses cut-off.

Equity Senior Business Representative Rick Berg was AEA's Chief Negotiator, assisted by Business Representatives John Baron and Frank Stancati. AEA Councillor Bill Bateman chaired the Negotiating Team. The theatres were represented by ANTC President Barrack Evans.
