Know Anyone in THE WEDDING SINGER Tour ? UPDATE: EQUITY SEEKS TO ORGANIZE WEDDING SINGER Actors’ Equity is continuing to reach out to actors and stage managers in the non-Equity tour of THE WEDDING SINGER. Thanks to all of you who have gotten in touch with us about this. On August 20, 2007, rehearsals were abruptly moved to Florida, after NETworks, the producer, FALSELY accused Equity of planning a protest outside their NYC rehearsal hall. This was an attempt to intimidate and isolate cast members, in typical union-avoidance style. Equity wants to offer these actors and stage managers accurate information, allowing them to make an informed choice. Of course, Equity is the choice of any informed actor and/or stage manager. So, we are once again asking for your help: If you know anyone in THE WEDDING SINGER, please write/call/get in touch with them, and let them know WHY Equity is the right choice! Here’s some suggested text:
Dear XXXXX THE WEDDING SINGER should be an Equity tour, and you deserve to be on an Equity contract. I understand that contacting the union may be an intimidating prospect, and in fact, your Producer may have warned you not to do so. However, as a professional, make the decision for yourself, and make it with ALL the information. Contact Flora via email at weddingsinger@actorsequity.org or by phone at 212-869-8530, extension 419. As an Equity member, and as your friend, I ask you to give Equity the same chance you’ve given NETworks to tell their side of the story.
