By Michelle Kittrell - Dance Captain, LEGALLY BLONDE
![]() Michelle Kittrell Week 16 & 17 - Countdown To Opening Well we are in full swing now! Rehearsing during the day and doing the show at night. Making small adjustments here and there as well as filming B-roll (which is short footage that can be used for publicity) and having photo shoots. We performed for our colleagues with the "Gypsy Run-Thru" the night before our official first preview. This is essentially an invited dress rehearsal where our industry friends are invited to come view, and hopefully support, the show. It is really one of the most exciting experiences there is in this process. It feels like a rock concert from the stage...it's amazing.
Diary Entries
I was asked to write a journal for Equity's website to explain what the position of Dance Captain entails from the ground up on a new Broadway musical. In my case, LEGALLY BLONDE.
Read All the entries: We have also continued with understudy and swing rehearsals on Fridays. This is an added treat to be able to rehearse, on the stage, with the technical elements. This is not a normal opportunity but one that is definitely appreciated. The 'Bible' continues to be revised as small things continue to adjust and/or evolve. Rusty and I are giving notes on a more regular basis. We are in full force as far as Dance Captain duties are concerned. The next entry will be about the opening...the creative process is close to coming to an end but the Dance Captain's job of maintaining the musical staging and choreography will be just beginning!
