Andy Pellick Wins Gypsy Robe for TARZAN
![]() Andy Pellick proudly displays the robe Andy Pellick, a chorus member in TARZAN, is the latest winner of Equity's legendary Gypsy Robe. The colorful garment was presented to Mr. Pellick during a thrilling ceremony backstage at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on opening night (Wednesday, May 10, 2006) recreating the time-honored tradition that began over 50 years ago.
![]() Josh Strickland, Andy Pellick, Jenn Gambatese Extravagantly decorated with mementos from recent Broadway musicals, the robe is given to the cast member with the most chorus credits. Andy has performed in several Broadway shows, including DANCE OF THE VAMPIRE, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES and WICKED. Equity Gypsy Robe Director Terry Marone began the ceremony by introducing several former recipients, including: Pi Douglass (JESUS CHRIST, SUPERSTAR, SELLING OF THE PRESIDENT, THE WIZ), Merwin Foard (ASSASINS, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES), Roger Preston Smith (PETER PAN), Austin Colyer (SINGIN' IN THE RAIN) and James Dybas (PACIFIC OVERTURES, SCARLET PIMPERNAL).
![]() Alan Eisenberg and Andy Pellick Patrick Wetzel, who received the robe in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, made the presentation to Mr. Pellick. Ms. Marone also introduced Equity's Executive Director Alan Eisenberg, Communications Director David Lotz, Business Representative Walt Kiskaddon, and the Executive Director of The Actors' Fund, Joseph Benincasa. Also in attendance were Equity Chorus Councillor Bill Bateman and Communications Assistant Nicole Yanolatos.
