Dennis Stowe Dons Colorful Gypsy Robe in THE APPLE TREE
![]() Dennis Stowe and Kristin Chenoweth Dennis Stowe is the newest recipient of Equity's colorful Gypsy Robe, for THE APPLE TREE. The legendary garment was presented to Mr. Stowe backstage at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on the opening night (Thursday, December 14, 2006), recreating the time-honored tradition that began over 50 years ago. Lavishly decorated with mementos from recent Broadway musicals, the robe is given to the cast member with the most chorus credits. Dennis previously performed in the Broadway choruses of DIRTY ROTTEN SCROUNDEL, MAN OF LA MANCHA, THE WEDDING SINGER, and WONDERFUL TOWN. Gypsy Robe Director Terry Marone kicked off the ceremony by introducing several former recipients, including: Bill Nabel (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, MOST HAPPY FELLA), Austin Colyer (SINGIN IN THE RAIN), Rommy Sandhu (BOMBAY DREAMS, MARY POPPINS), Joan Bell (SOMETHING MORE), Vince Pesce (WONDERFUL TOWN, PAJAMA GAME), and Harvey Evans (OKLAHOMA! and SUNSET BOULVARD. She also introduced Equity First Vice President Paige Price, Second Vice President and ACCA Chair Jean-Paul Richard and Chorus Councillor and Gypsy Robe Committee Chair, Thomas Jay Miller. Krysta Rodriguez, who garnered the robe in SPRING AWAKENING, recited the history of the robe, and announced the recipient, Lorin Latarro. Because Ms. Latarro, had received the robe in A CHORUS LINE, she graciously elected to pass the robe along to her fellow cast member.
