Krysta Rodriguez Dons Colorful Gypsy Robe in SPRING AWAKENING

Krysta Rodriguez is the newest recipient of Equity's colorful Gypsy Robe, for SPRING AWAKENING. The legendary garment was presented to Ms. Rodriguez backstage at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on the opening night (Sunday, December 10, 2006), recreating the time-honored tradition that began over 50 years ago.

Lavishly decorated with mementos from recent Broadway musicals, the robe is given to the cast member with the most chorus credits. Krysta previously performed as Chorus in GOOD VIBRATIONS at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre theatre.

Equity Chorus Councillor Tom Miller kicked off the ceremony by introducing several former recipients, including: Bill Nabel (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, MOST HAPPY FELLA), Brynn Williams (IN MY LIFE) and Austin Colyer.

The most recent recipient, Paul Castree (HIGH FIDELITY) took center stage to tell about the history of the robe ceremony before passing the robe along to Ms. Rodriguez, who circled the stage three times in accordance with the ceremony, as each cast member touched the robe to receive its "blessing."

Also participating in the ceremony was Equity Communications Director David Lotz.
