Eastern Board OKs Fringe Festival Code for DC

The Eastern Regional Board has approved the Capital Fringe Festival Code (CFF) for use in Washington, DC. It is based on the Members Project Code and the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival Code, utilized in Philadelphia since 1998.

The CFF may be used only with the advance permission of Actors' Equity. The Area Liaison Committee may not "approve" or "disapprove" a Festival production, but only ensure that proper procedure is followed. Members interested in participating in the Festival should contact the Washington, DC/Baltimore Liaison Committee for details.

Work under the CFF is member-produced. New plays may be presented, but there are no subsidiary rights. Productions are limited to 12 performances during the Festival. No member is required to contribute financially to the production as a condition of participation, and any monies generated are to be equally distributed among all participants in the project. Expenditures for each project may not exceed $4,000 excluding cost of participation fee and royalties. If a houseboard, cast list or program is provided, each Equity member must be listed and identified.

The Capital Fringe Festival runs from July 20-30, 2006 and this Code expires on August 1.
