Equity & Friends Fight AIDS Breaks Donation Records

With the help of Detroit area theatres and their generous patrons, the Michigan Area AEA Liaison Committee's Equity & Friends Fight AIDS fundraising campaign brought in $26,235.70 in 2004. These funds were distributed to Michigan AIDS Prevention Project and AIDS Partnership Michigan.

The Gem and Century Theatres topped the list in donations. They had two shows running -- MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL and FORBIDDEN CHRISTMAS -- and ran their campaign through the holiday season. Detroit's new City Theatre, with their first production, DUCK HUNTER SHOOTS ANGEL, and Jewish Ensemble Theatre's THE DYBBUK also collected from Thanksgiving to Christmas.

With only Thanksgiving weekend, Meadow Brook's A CHRISTMAS CAROL and Detroit Repertory's COMING TO LIFE provided healthy donations. The Committee also welcomed Wayne State University's Hillberry Theatre for the first time.
