Career Transition For Dancers, New York
NYC Thursday, April 18, 2013 - 5:30-7:30pm Explore the wide array of career options in Dance Medicine including physical therapy, athletic training, podiatry, and research. What can you do now to start your career in Dance Medicine? Opportunities for volunteer and internship positions will be discussed. This event is co-hosted by the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries. Complimentary wine and cheese will be available for all attendees. Moderated by Lauren Gordon, LCSW, MSW, Career Counselor at Career Transition For Dancers. Panelists from the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries will include: Alison Deleget, MS, ATC, Clinical Specialist; Joey Fernandez, MD, Internal Medicine/Sports Medicine Physician Leigh Heflin, MA, MSc, Education and Outreach Programs Coordinator ; Mark Hunter-Hall, PT, Physical Therapist; Thomas Novella, DPM, Private Podiatry Practice; and Leigh Schanfein, MS, Research Associate. Dancers do not have to be Career Transition For Dancers' dancer-clients to attend. The workshop is open to pre-professional, current, and former professional dancers of all genres. Los Angeles Tuesday, April 30-7:00-9:00pm Representatives from Los Angeles area undergraduate, associate, and advanced degree programs will discuss the options for adults returning to college. They will be joined by performers who have pursued further education to develop their interests and career options. Panelists include: Mark Baird, Director of the LEAP Program, St. Mary's College of California; Bill Cohen PhD, Retired Major General of the USAFR, and President of CIAM; Dr. Carl Selkin, Dir. of Development at CSULA and initiator of the interdisciplinary studies major which includes film, TV and theater. Co-Moderated by Linda Bunch, MA Ed., RPC, RPCC, CTFD Career Counselor, and Joanne DiVito, CTFD Los Angeles Administrator. Additional panelists and grads TBD.

Bring life stories you are thinking about, are in the middle of writing, or have completed to the life writing workshop. Remember to bring paper, a pen, and your memories. It will be a great time and a chance to learn from each other. Moderated by Maureen Byrnes. Free of charge but space is limited.
